Who we are
1:16 Bible Study Group is a place where believers can grow in their relationship with God through intentional study of His Word. While we explore all of Scripture, our foundation rests on key verses that share the common thread of “1:16”—a reminder of our calling to holiness, grace, purpose, and faith:
Isaiah 1:16
“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil.”
John 1:16
“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”
Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...”
Colossians 1:16
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.”
1 Peter 1:16
“Because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’”
1:16 Bible Study Group Statement of Faith
At 1:16 Bible Study Group, our foundation is God’s Word. The following beliefs shape our identity, our teaching, and our calling as followers of Christ.
We Believe in One God
We believe in one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternally existing in perfect unity (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer of all things.
We Believe in Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is God’s only Son—fully God, fully man. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose on the third day, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. One day, He will return in glory to judge and reign forever (1 Corinthians 15:1–8; John 3:16; Matthew 1:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18).
We Believe in Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory. The result of sin is spiritual death—but salvation is a free gift through Jesus. Anyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and believes in His resurrection is saved (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9; Acts 4:12).
We Believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer. He comforts, convicts, empowers, and equips us with spiritual gifts to serve God and build up the body of Christ (John 14:26; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11).
We Believe the Bible is God's Word
We believe the Bible is God-breathed—true, trustworthy, and timeless. It reveals who God is, what He desires, and how we are to live. Scripture is our final authority in all matters of faith and life (Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16).
We Believe in the Church
We believe the Church is not a building—it’s a body. Made up of believers from every nation and background, the Church exists to share the gospel, make disciples, and serve others in love. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are called to grow in unity and maturity (Ephesians 4:1–16; Matthew 28:18–20; 1 Corinthians 12:27).
We Believe in Living Holy Lives
We believe that every believer is called to reflect Christ’s character and live a life set apart for God. Holiness isn’t about immediate perfection—it’s about daily surrender, transformation, and obedience to God’s Word (Romans 12:1–2; 1 Peter 1:15–16).
Final Word
These truths aren’t just doctrine—they’re the heartbeat of our community. We don’t claim to know everything, but we aim to live by what we do know: God is holy, His Word is true, and His grace is enough.
